This week on the Free Apps Roundup: NASA released an awesome 3D augmented reality app that puts spacecrafts at your fingertips. You can use the app to take a look at Curiosity, the car-sized rover on its way to Mars right now. NASA always knows where Curiosity is thanks to tons of awesome technology and math, but you can do something similar with Twist. It’s an app that alerts specified contacts via SMS or email about how long it’s going to take before you get there. But wait, there’s more…

The Top Three:

  • Spacecraft 3D – There are few things that can bring about our sense of wonder as well as space. NASA’s newest app does just that by letting you interact with 3D models of spacecrafts. Even better, the app can put these spacecraft at your fingertips if you print out the AR Target and use the camera on your device to help the app augment your reality.
  • Twist – Let your family and friends know when you’ll be there without doing anything. That’s what Twist can do for you. It’s a location sharing utility that allows you to setup alerts for specific people based on locations. It runs in the background and can let your friends know that you’re on your way and even provide an ETA via SMS or email.
  • AutoRap – “YO. This is AutoRap. It turns speech into rap, and corrects bad rapping.” With a claim like that, you pretty much have to download Smule’s newest audio app.

  • Fishing Superstars – A dynamic and cartoony fishing game.
  • NBC Olympics – Keep up to date with what’s going on at the 2012 London Olympic Summer Games.
