This may be hard to accept but in recent years America’s popularity on the world stage has declined, and the impact of this has been felt by nearly all the leading US brands e.g. Coca-Cola, McDonalds and Nike included – except Apple.
“Apple is one of the few US brands that aren’t becoming less popular outside its home country. Many big US brands are seen as less likable than before, according to new research (the Brand Power Study) disclosed by CNN Money”.
They are not alone as Google, Disney and Microsoft have all seen improvements in their rankings. The study tracked 30,000 consumers and their attitudes to top global brands (a mix of 60 American and international ones) in 25 countries and found that Anti-American sentiment is particularly affecting US brands in the developing economies. It was conducted between November 2006 and January 2007.
