Activision Anthology

Did you see Activision’s Pitfall! for iOS release this month and think, “What’s with all the colors and detail? Why, when I was young, Pitfall! had only 2-Ds, and we were thankful for both of them!” Well, now you can be thankful for the newly released Activision Anthology, which collects the best Activision and Imagic games for the Atari 2600.

The app gives you Kaboom! for free (Activision sure did love to shout its titles at you), with an additional 45 games available via in app purchase, including Pitfall!, Pitfall II, River Raid, Barnstorming, Stampede, Demon Attack, and plenty more.

Is Keystone Kapers in there? I guess I’ll have to download it see. I dig me some Keystone Kapers, even though that running cop sounded like he had maracas in his pants.

Anyway, Activision would like you to know that:

Activision Anthology features multiple control schemes so gamers can choose a play style that suits them. Activision Anthology has Game Center and Facebook integration including leaderboards and achievements to share and compete with friends!  Players can also earn digital versions of the renowned Activision game patches offered in the 1980’s. Original cartridge and box art, game manuals, tips and strategies from the original game designers are also included.

After you’ve downloaded Activision Anthology for the iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch, and Android devices for free, you can purchase four additional bundle packs with 11 games each for only $2.99 per pack. In addition, all 45 games can be bought up front for a special limited-time introductory price of only $6.99.

There’s no word yet on possible support for the iCade Bluetooth controller, but hopefully Activision will do the right thing and roll that into an update.
