Appletell has been talking to some of the finest OS X and iOS developers at PAX Prime. Over the next few days we’ll be posting information on games you know and games you should know, including Containment from Bootsnake, Cognition from Phoenix Online Studios, Bust-N-Rush from Techtonic, and more.
The people we spoke to are enthusiastic about bringing their games to the Mac, iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad. Having the right tools for the job, such as the Unity engine, is essential. Without them, games would have to be made essentially from scratch for each device, which takes a lot of time and money most companies don’t have. These tools make it easier to bring games to you, whether you use a keyboard and mouse with your Mac or a virtual joystick with your iPad. The result is that more and more games are available than ever before.
This year, puzzles, side-scrollers, and point & click games are very popular. Developers told us they made their games because they wanted to bring back the games of their childhood and improve them so that today’s gamers can experience what they did.
If the games we saw at PAX Prime are any indication, now is a great time to be an Apple gamer. Stay tuned for details.
