There is no denying that the Apple iPhone is a popular item now, but just how far would you go to get one? Well one Gizmodo reader was willing to go an get a vasectomy. This may seem extreme to some (myself included) but this self proclaimed Apple Fanboy “To the extreme” was more than willing. Gizmodo reader Mr. Johnson (we kid you not, that is his real name) was simply amazed when the iPhone was announced in January but upset due to the fact he already spent his years “gadget budget”.
Mr. Johnson then approached his wife about getting the iPhone out-of-budget and was partially relieved that she said yes, except it had to be when his current Sprint contract ended. The bad news there is that his contract ran till the end of 2007, meaning he would have to watch everyone else with their iPhones for just about 6 months until he would be able to get one for himself.
Well skip ahead just a bit till June 29th when the phone was released and Mr. Johnson decided to take a trip to an AT&T store and came home with a 4GB iPhone, without approval of course. His wife of course promptly made him return the phone but otherwise let him off the hook for the purchase. Then two days later she asked him…
— Honey, how badly you want the iPhone? — Badly —he said, puppy eyes again, no doubt— very badly.
“Would you be willing to finally make that appointment for a vasectomy?” she replied.
Well Mr. Johnson now has an 8GB iPhone and of course like any true Apple Fanboy, he is in love with it. I now consider myself very fortunate that I do not have to go to my wife for gadget purchases, as long as they are done in a responsible way.
