Square-Enix has been churning out a lot of iOS games over the past month, and they’re not done yet. Today, they’ve announced the release of Guardian Cross, a free-to-play card battle game for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch. You play a Guardian who must capture, raise and control over 120 monsters, then challenge players around the world in the game’s coliseum.
Guardian Cross comes with the typically high Square-Enix pedigree; the creator of the Final Fantasy ATB system, Hiroyuki Ito, served as the lead concept planner, music was composed by Naoshi Mizuta, and Akira Oguro handled character design.
If Guardian Cross looks like your kind of game, you’d be wise to get the download pretty quickly. For a limited time, players can receive rare limited edition cards featuring monsters from Final Fantasy XI and Final Fantasy XIV by inviting friends to play.
Guardian Cross is a free download for iPhone, iPod touch and iPad, with coin packs available as in-app purchases.
