Apple announced the new iPhone 5 earlier this week, and pre-orders opened at midnight on Friday, September 14th. Within a few short hours, Apple had sold out of its first-day shipment stock. An Apple spokesperson said the company was “blown away” by the response to the iPhone 5, according to a statement obtained by the Wall Street Journal.
Apple spokeswoman Nat Kerris said, “Pre-orders for iPhone 5 have been incredible. We’ve been completely blown away by the customer response.”
No pre-order sales numbers were released with the statement, but many analyst have reported Apple could exceed their own previous sales record made with the iPhone 4S, which sold close to about four million units within its first weekend.
