What is it?
Containment: The Zombie Puzzler from Bootsnake Games is a unique and fun zombie killing game. Your main goal is to destroy all of the zombies in each area by surrounding them with the same unit type.
Use power-ups and interact with the environment to give you the edge you need to defeat even the toughest of boss zombies.
How does it work?
Containment: The Zombie Puzzler has both campaign and survival modes. Each time you kill all of the zombies in one area you’re taken to the next one and your game is saved automatically. In the campaign there are three acts with five levels each and even more areas in each act for a lot of content. What would have been neat is if a level editor was included, but hopefully Bootsnake Games is working on more levels.
Simply click or drag one unit to another anywhere on the screen to swap positions. Once the zombies are destroyed the units slide down, much as in Tetris. You have to play smart since every move you make increases the odds of zombies infecting a nearby unit and turning him or her into a zombie as well.
There’s a chance to get power-ups based on which unit you use to destroy zombies. Cops give a sniper rifle which are used against a single zombie, soldiers give a grenade which are used against groups, punks give a fire bomb, and doctors give a suit that resists infection.
You don’t have to contend with just the zombies, as there are objects you can interact with that can help or hinder you. Often you’ll see trash cans that can hold either a power-up or another zombie. Sometimes you have to surround objects with the same unit to activate them. Other times you can decide whether to destroy objects that change how the story progresses.
Is it contagious?
Containment: The Zombie Puzzler is a fun fast-paced puzzle game that is perfect for when you have only a few minutes of free time.
The graphics and animations are excellent and I particularly like how the camera takes you from one area to the next, panning over the text that tells the story of the zombie attack. The sound effects are good with taunts from your units and screams as they get turned into a zombie. There’s no music but some would say the sound of zombies dying is the sweetest music of them all.
