If you aren’t too thrilled with paying bills, especially to AT&T, SHAPE Services might just have your solution. The Germany-based firm has brought out a beta Skype client for the iPhone (known as IM+), allowing for cheap or free calls anywhere in the world. Unfortunately, this isn’t a native app; nope, it’s still a “Web 2.0″-based application running in the cloud.
SHAPE says WiFi is not required to use it, so I’m guessing it’s some sort of call-back service. There is only a one-time fee for all users, but you’ll receive all subsequent updates and fixes. GigaOm says it took less than two minutes to start chatting, so it sounds like a really easy product to use. The service also works with other mobile devices.
