And just like that, the iPhone 5 has beaten the iPhone 4S in terms of sales during launch weekend. Apple has announced that five million units of the iPhone 5 have been sold since September 21. Apple sold more than 4 million units of the iPhone 4S last year during its first weekend run.
The sales record was broken despite some negative publicity the iPhone 5 has received since it was released. Obviously, the positive reviews overshadowed some of the issues besetting the iPhone 5, including the scarcity of supply as shipping dates for pre-orders keep on being re-adjusted to the currently estimated time of 3-4 weeks. Apple has made the iPhone 5 available to U.S., Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, Singapore and the UK. Some other countries will get their share of iPhone 5 units on September 28, while the rest of the world will have theirs probably sometime in October.
So, have you received your iPhone 5 yet?
