AllThingsD is reporting they’ve received word that Google plans to integrate Street View functionality into the mobile web browser version of Google Maps. Currently, users who access Google Maps on their iOS devices will get just limited version of Google Maps that doesn’t include Street View.
Walt Mossberg at AllThingsD claims Google plans to unveil these new features to make Google Maps more easily accessible to users of iOS 6 devices. Google let Mossberg test the services on the iPhone, and he says it works perfectly fine within a touchscreen input:
While we have no official statement from Google on when they’re planning to release a Google Maps standalone iOS app, Mossberg believes Google is currently working to announce an iOS version of Google Maps within the next couple of weeks.
