Amidst rumors of an iPad mini announcement this month, a new leak depicts a supposed iPad Mini battery. The report comes from MacRumors, who allegedly acquired photos of an iPad Mini battery that bears the number APN (Apple product number) 616-0641.
The authenticity of photograph showing the iPad Mini battery can’t be verified, but some members of iFixit say the component numbers appear legitimate due to similarities to the current iPad’s unit parts.
Assuming this leaked image of the iPad Mini battery is to be believed, it could mean a 7-inch iPad would have longer-lasting battery life when compared to tablets from competitors like Amazon and Google. So, expect battery to be comparable to the 9.7″ iPad—around 10 hours of battery capacity.
A recent report from AllThingsD suggested Apple is preparing to unveil it’s smaller 7.85″ iPad at a media event to be held on October 23rd. AllThingsD has an accurate track record for Apple rumors, so we believe the date is credible.
