There are new reports surfacing that Apple will use their October 23rd media event to introduce iBooks 3.0 in conjunction with the iPad Mini. The Next Web is reporting on a leak in iTunes that shows an iBookstore listing requiring users to have iBooks 3.0 as a requirement to download the digital book.
This news reaffirms earlier reports that Apple plans to push the iPad Mini as an ebook reader with the iBooks application. This wouldn’t be that surprising considering Apple is aiming directly at competing tablets such as Amazon’s Kindle Fire and Google’s Nexus 7.
We will be offering full coverage of Apple’s media event, so be sure to join us in our live blog on October 23rd.
