Apple announces the 4th generation iPad

In an odd move, Apple today announced the 4th generation iPad with upgraded internal specs and much faster performance than the now old New iPad. The 4th Gen iPad will include the A6X chip which is almost twice as fast as the previous A5X chip.

In addition, the new iPad will feature the smaller Lighting connector and has faster wireless like Apple’s new iPhone 5 and iPod Touch.

Apple’s new 4th Generation iPad includes:

  • Faster performance apple a6x, double the CPU performance from a5x
  • Twice the graphic performance from previous generation
  • Next generation Display
  • 10 hour battery life
  • Support 4G LTE
  • 2x faster wifi
  • Lighting Connector
  • Sprint named as the new carrier for the 4th Gen iPad

Apple’s 4th generation iPad retains the pricing of the current model: $499 for the 16GB, $599 for the 32GB, and $699 for the 64GB WiFi models. The cellular model of the 4th gen iPad is said to start at $629. Pre-orders start October 26th, with Wi-Fi models arriving on November 2nd.
