Game maker Turbine (not the beakdancer trying to save the community center) announced that Lord of the Rings Online is available on the Mac, starting with a beta client. The game is set in the fantasy world created by J.R.R. Tolkien…which you may have heard of. They made some films about it a few years ago, and I think they’re working on some more.

Mac players can download the beta client by clicking here (this is a direct link to the .dmg file, which is approximately 16 GB in size). And that’s all the information we have at this point about the OS X version. Nothing about system requirements or when it might go out of beta, or if it’ll be available on the Mac app store or from Steam.

Dig in, folks.

  1. “Turbine” wasn’t the breakdancer. It was Turbo. If you’re going to use hallmark films of the 80′s know it, don’t blow it!
