The iPhone DevTeam’s Redsn0w program has been updated to support iOS v 6.0.1 on all iDevices running on the older A4 SoC chip hardware. Those devices—like the first-gen iPad, iPhone 4 and the 4th-gen iPod touch—are all eligible for the jailbreak. The downside is that it only works in tethered jail-breakable mode, which means that if you need to restart or reboot your iDevice, you will be required to plug your device to a PC/Mac computer to be able to power your iOS device back on.
Those who have been patiently waiting for an untethered jailbreak for your new iOS devices running on A5 or A6 chips will have to wait a bit longer for a jail-breakable version to be released to the public. The iPhone Dev Team has informed us that they are working non-stop (searching for exploits in the Apple’s latest firmware) to bring an untethered jailbreak for all devices running on Apple’s iOS 6.
