What’s the best part about major motion pictures? Free-to-play licensed video games! Why, I fondly remember as a child highly anticipating the day when I’d get to have the characters I’d come to know and love from the Star Wars trilogy instruct me on how to repair the moisture farm equipment to provide water to sell to the Jawas in order to get more droid parts to increase the rating of my encampment. “Then,” I thought, “Then I will be able to announce this accomplishment on Facebook and invite my friends to the fun.” That’s how I remember 1983, anyway. Oh, which reminds me: there’s a Hobbit game.
The Hobbit: Kingdoms of Middle Earth is a free-to-play game from Kabam for iOS and Android where you build a kingdom (Dwarf or Elf), going on quests, putting together an army, and gathering resources…which I think we can all agree is our favorite part of Tolkien’s writing. You can get it now on the iOS Store, provided you have an iPhone 3GS or better running iOS 4.3.
