When Apple decided to replace the Google’s Maps application with their own in-house solution in iOS 6, many iDevice users who depended upon Google’s services were left behind. Thankfully, Sparkling Maps for iPhone and iPod touch brings back many of Google Maps features to iPhone and iPod touch owners with full turn by turn navigation, street views, and map/hybrid/satellite view support.

If you been waiting for Google to release their official Maps App to iOS, Sparkling Maps looks to be a good alternative to the somewhat disastrous Maps app from Apple.

The top features of Sparkling Maps App:

  • Support for iPhone 5 and iPod Touch 5th gen.
  • Turn by turn navigation from Google maps.
  • Indicate any nearby places of importance: atms, gas stations, hospitals, post offices, restaurants, supermarkets, train stations, etc.
  • Street view, which can be accessed by pressing down on a street spot.

Sparkling Maps App is available now at the Apple’s App Store for $0.99 cents.

  1. Just tried it – save your dollar. Street view is fish-eyed, does not rotate with the device and there is no zoom function. Second rate at best.
