Evernote has just been updated to v.5.0, bringing new features and a completely redesigned user interface. The developers have redesigned the entire application from the ground-up; the home-screen now allows users to more easily access notebooks, tags, and places in one convenient area.

The new version of Evernote 5 for iOS will be combined soon with the upcoming Mac desktop client.

There’s a new shared notebook feature that not only shows your notebooks, but also those shared with your friends, making collaboration with classmates or co-workers much easier than previous iterations. There’s also a new feature dubbed “Places” that will give users the option to geotag their notes, laying them out beautifully on a map.

Additional Evernote v.5 for iOS features include:

  • Note list redesigned with new card style to showcase note content
  • Added ability to quickly create new notebooks from the Notebooks list
  • Places displays notes on a zoomable map
  • Evernote Premium view lets you access Premium features and account status

Evernote v5.0 is now available on the Apple’s App Store as a free download. The Evernote app works on both the iPhone and iPad.
