The monsters aren’t under the bed anymore—they’re in the pinball machine. Monster Pinball from Matmi provides a multi-table experience, with monsters.
What is it?
Monster Pinball is a mostly basic pinball game. Where it isn’t so basic is the multi-table aspect. When you send your ball through one of the exits, it will actually change the table layout. There are a few different tables, so you can play what amounts to 4 or 5 different pinball tables in the course of one ball’s play.
How does it work?
There are no designated “buttons” to actuate the flippers; just tap on the right or left side of the screen. Some of the tables are a bit sparse in regards to targets, bumpers, etc, but the multi-table play makes up for this. You can also select the speed at which the game moves (slow, medium, or fast).
There is no accelerometer so you can’t try the old ‘tilt’ maneuver, but this is just as well since it would be difficult to hold the game level in the first place (even so, you may find yourself tipping your iDevice to try to make the ball go where you want…).
The graphics are very nice, and the background music and sounds are okay. Some of the tables’ geometry is a bit perspective bending, but that just makes the game more interesting.
Is it contagious?
If you like pinball games, Monster Pinball is a great option. There is plenty of variety in the tables, good action and some slick graphics. Also, since it’s a pinball game, there is no singular objective to achieve so you can play for as long as you like.
