The long-awaited Google Maps app for iOS has finally come to Apple’s App Store. Users who had relied on Apple’s Maps app on iOS 6 should be happy that you can once again enjoy using Google Maps on your iPhone.
Google Maps for iOS comes packed with new features such as integrated voice guided turn-by-turn navigation, public transit routes, and Google’s street view. Google has also added “local search,” allowing users to discover new places to eat, drink, shop and play, with ratings and reviews.
Ever since Apple replaced Google Maps on iOS 6, users have only been able to access Google Maps through Safari browser. While Google Maps on the web offered basic features such as Street View, it suffered from slow performance. Now that Google has released a native application for Apple device, it will bring much smoother navigation and a friendlier interface to the iPhone.
The official Google Maps App is now available in the App Store. It’s compatible with the iPhone 3GS/4/4S/5, iPod Touch 4th/5th generation, and iPad.
