This week on the Free Apps Roundup: It’s that time of year again, when we give each other gifts and such. How about some free apps? If you like playing musical instruments, you might like to give Novation’s Launchkey a try. It’s an interactive synthesizer that looks pretty cool. If you like games, then this is surely your lucky week, as ARC Squadron (a 3D space shooter) and Avengers Initiative (a 3D brawler), are both free for a limited time. Plus, there are a bunch of other limited time freebies, too. If you have some vacation coming up, we have the apps to help fill that newfound free time. You know, since the world didn’t come to an end or anything.

The Top Three:

  • Novation Launchkey for iPad – Get a powerful and unique analogue modeling synthesizer from Novation. Launckey has 60 exciting synth sounds that can be interacted with easily to make music. Plus, it looks cool. And as an introduction special, it’s free for a limited time.
  • ARC Squadron – An evil race known as the Guardians is taking over the universe and doing all sorts of, well, evil. You are an elite pilot, obviously, and you and the rest of the ARC Squadron are the last hope for the galaxy. This 3D space shooter has some very good reviews, and it’s free for a very short while.
  • Avengers Initiative – If you’re looking for an epic brawler, this is the game. You get to play as two of the Avengers: Hulk and Captain America. The graphics are amazing and the fun is real. And for a limited time, you can get this game for free. Download it now.

Free:

  • Where’s My Holiday? – Help Swampy and Perry in this holiday themed puzzler.
  • Lost Treasures of Infocom – Before amazing graphics, there were text based games. And now you can “play” them again.
  • RAD Soldiers – Use the outrageous special abilities of your mighty mercs to turn the tide of the battle.
  • MINT.io Groovebox – MINT stands for Music In No Time, and it wants to help you do just that for electronic music.

Free for a Limited Time:

  • Scanner Mini – Scan physical documents into PDFs using your iPhone’s camera.
  • Eve of Impact – Blast away at an increasing barrage of asteroids to protect earth from destruction.
  • Endless Road – Outrun a collapsing road in this intense isometric racer.
  • Game Your Video – Create great videos by applying live motion effects, audio transformations and gorgeous video filters.
  • Pony Trails – Finally, you have the chance to saddle up on your very own pony and explore mountain paths, desert trails and coastal courses.
  • Flick Golf Extreme! HD – It’s like flick golf, only 100% more extreme. Basically, play golf where you shouldn’t be able to do so.
  • New York 3D Rollercoaster Rush HD – This game has you riding 40 action-packed roller coasters. In order to win, you’ll need to pull of some stunts, some of which include just staying on the rollercoaster.
  • Prince of Persia Retro – Relive the classic adventure that started it all.
  • Demolition Physics – This game helps you see how much fun physics can be, by blowing virtual stuff up. There are different materials and different types of explosions. Try not to have fun.
  • Verticus – Didn’t get enough comic book goodness with the Avengers Initiative? Try out Stan Lee’s Verticus, complete with some holiday updates. Excelsior!
