Square’s newest business packaged—dubbed Square Register—turns the iPad into a point-of-sale system that accepts payments, tracks sales and shares item and location information.

Square is known as a mobile payment startup that allows customers to pay for their coffee, for example, with an iPhone app. Since it specializes in helping companies process payments, the company is now taking merchants to the next level with its “business in a box” point-of-sale system that includes an iPad stand, cash drawer, and optional receipt printer.

If you’ve already paid for a product using the Square app, you have an idea how it works. The free Square app handles all the mobile payment processing. You can swipe your credit card using the Square card reader or pay for the product via the Wallet app on your iPhone.

Starbucks recently partnered with Square, allowing smartphone users to pay wirelessly from many of its U.S. branches. Heck, you can even break the record of the world’s most expensive Starbucks coffee, if you wish.

The Square Register business package starts at $299.00 and comes with two Square card readers, an iPad stand, a cash drawer and an optional receipt printer. Square also offers customized packages according to the customers’ need.
