Last June at E3 2012, I received a demo of Larian Studios’ Divinity: Dragon Commander. At the time, the developers of this mash-up of real time strategy, third-person action and card-based gaming were hoping for Q1 2013 release. That’s not going to happen, but those looking forward to the game now have an official website and new gameplay trailer to whet their appetite.
Not sure what that’s all about? Not important, because in addition to dragons with jetpacks, the game has skeletons.
Still want more details? Okay, well, the new website breaks down the game into the four roles you’ll be playing:
- Commander: Command your sea, land and air forces in real-time. At your direction, let them unleash total war.
- Dragon: Turn into a dragon at will to support your troops in combat and obliterate the enemy.
- Strategist: Direct your conquest on the turn-based world map; out-manoeuvre and outwit your opponents.
- Emperor: You are the emperor and you make the decisions! But beware, political balance is easily upset.
If you want more, just head on over to the new Dragon Commander website, as it has plenty of details, screenshots, concept art and more to prepare for the coming release.
Larian Studios is currently hoping for a simultaneous PC/Mac release in May or June of this year, but the Mac version end up lagging a bit. Price and system requirements will be announced closer to launch.
