If there’s one thing we know about the folks at Feral Interactive, it’s that they love themselves a good race…even if that race is being driven by the video game equivalent of Chuck E. Cheese puppets. The Mac game publisher will be bringing Sonic & SEGA All-Stars Racing to OS X this Thursday, April 4th, exclusively on the Mac App Store.
According to Feral, Sonic & SEGA All-Stars Racing marks the first time Sonic the Hedgehog (along with 21 other SEGA characters) will appear on the Mac, but it won’t be the last; Feral is also publishing SEGA Superstars Tennis for OS X later this year.
Sonic & SEGA All-Stars Racing sees Sonic the Hedgehog, Dr. Eggman, Tails, AiAi the monkey and the rest of the cast race to the checkered flag in cars, motorbikes, planes, hover cars and even a “banana mobile”! Tracks inspired by SEGA’s celebrated game worlds, including Sonic the Hedgehog and Super Monkey Ball, range from medieval castle ramparts and lush rainforests to downtown Tokyo and even a gravity-defying casino!
To stay ahead of the competition, players can use secret shortcuts, devious weapons and devastating power-ups liberally sprinkled along each track. Each character comes equipped with their own game-changing “All-Star Move” such as Sonic’s “Super Sonic” and Dr. Eggman’s “Missile Madness”.
Four racer multiplayer action will be supported through Apple’s Game Center. Sonic & SEGA All-Stars Racing will also feature player achievements and iCloud syncing.
Sonic & SEGA All-Stars Racing will sell for a meager $24.99 via direct download from the Mac App Store.
