Those carrying an unlocked iPhone 5 on T-Mobile’s network will be happy to know the U.S carrier has issued a minor software update that—according to the company’s news-blog—enables 4G LTE connectivity and other exciting new features for your iPhone 5.

Unlocked iPhone 5 users can expect the following from this new software update from T-Mobile:

  • Faster 4G LTE connectivity on T-Mobile (previously, users were stuck on the older and slow 2G speeds due to incompatibility of T-Mobile’s old cellular network bands)
  • Visual Voice-mail
  • Improvements in battery life
  • HD Voice
  • Personal Hotspot

The T-Mobile software update is available for all users to download directly via the Settings menu on your iOS device or via iTunes. Currently, the update is only restricted to iPhones running on iOS 6 or higher.

Starting April 12th, the T-Mobile iPhone 5 will be offered in a 16GB model for the low price of $99, 32GB for $199 and 64GB for $299. iPhone customers who wish to switch to T-Mobile can start their pre-order online effective immediately.

T-Mobile is undoubtedly going to be on the rise. Allowing people with unlocked iPhone 5’s to join their network will have a major increase in subscribers. Hopefully AT&T will follow this trend.
