Borderlands 2

Remember when you bought Borderlands 2 in the Mac App Store, and you were all like, “Dude, where’s the Game Center co-op?” Look harder, because it’s right there where it should be, now, thanks to an update released April 6th. The Borderlands 2 update also brings leaderboards and achievements, not to mention a 50% off sale for a limited time.

In case you’re not familiar with the game, Borderlands 2 is a four-player cooperative shooter/looter game that combines intense first-person mayhem with RPG elements, allowing gamers to:

  • Choose from all new characters and classes including the Gunzerker, who can dual-wield any two weapons in the game. Dual machine guns? Cool. Dual rocket launchers? Of course! Dual Sniper Rifles? Sure, if that’s your thing! More tactical perhaps? There are multiple classes to choose from!
  • Share your adventures with friends on both Mac and PC through a seamless system enabling you to drop in and drop out of a campaign without ever having to restart the game.
  • Left for dead in the frozen tundra of Pandora, begin your quest of revenge and redemption as the story drives you closer to the Hyperion Corporation and its evil founder, Handsome Jack.
  • Use millions of possible weapons for new and innovative ways to engage foes on Pandora. Fire, electricity, corrosive acid, and more will all be at your disposal.
  • Lust after procedurally generated shields, grenades, alien artifacts, class mods and much, much more on Pandora.
  • Discover more of the unpredictable world of Pandora at every turn, from the arctic tundra, through the dangerous grasslands, past the mysterious corrosive caverns and beyond.
  • Face new enemies such as the hulking, gorilla-like Bullymongs, vicious predatory Stalkers and the Hyperion mechanical army, run by Handsome Jack.

In addition to the Game Center support, 5 additional content packs—including the games 5th playable character: the Mechromancer—are available via in-app purchase. Aspyr is making this a bit easier on your wallet (for the time being) by offering Borderlands 2 for 50%. In the Mac App Store only, the game will currently run you only $29.99 ($59.99 elsewhere).
