When a game centers around WWI aerial combat, I take notice. That’s a personal thing. When a game has Sid Meier’s name it, everyone should take notice. That’s a gamer thing. As such, Sid Meier’s Ace Patrol from 2K and Firaxis Games is worth a look now before its release on Thursday, May 9th.
Sid Meier’s Ace Patrol—which was conceived, designed and programmed by Sid himself—features turn-based strategic WWI air-combat scenarios in which pilots must defend their base camp and allies. The game promises to offer “… a deep, high-quality 3D strategy experience that fulfills Firaxis’ promise of creating the world’s best strategy games.”
Sid Meier’s Ace Patrol will have would-be aces…
- piloting a selection of 30 vintage and historical WWI aircrafts through more than 120 missions,
- building out a team of Aces that each offer a special skill set to expand gameplay options,
- upgrading and promoting the top fighter pilots throughout the course of the campaign, and
- playing turn-based single-player, two-player hot-pad or asynchronous multiplayer through Game Center.
Sid Meier’s Ace Patrol will be a free download for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch when it hits the App Store next week. If you’re looking for something to do until then, Firaxis would like to remind you that Haunted Hollow comes out tomorrow.
