Telltale Games (Back to the Future, The Walking Dead) has just announced The Wolf Among Us, based on the comic book Fables by Bill Willingham. Set before the start of the series, it casts the character as Bigby “The Big Bad” Wolf, one of many characters from fairy tales who have escaped into the modern world and live secretly in New York.
As sheriff of the community, Bigby is tasked with keeping all the creatures out of trouble and under cover:
From a chain-smoking member of The Three Little Pigs, to a car-stealing Mr. Toad itching for his next wild ride, The Wolf Among Us examines the lives of beings straight from the pages of myth and lore, now trying to survive on the meanest and most run-down streets of New York City.
The Wolf Among Us will premiere later this summer on Xbox LIVE and PlayStation®Network, as well as PC and Mac from the Telltale Online Store and other digital distribution outlets. Although no iOS or Android versions are mentioned specifically, the press release indicates that additional platforms will be announced, and the bulk of Telltale games have found their way to tablets.
Telltale is best known for their modern point-and-click puzzle games, and The Walking Dead, also based on a comic, was widely regarded as one of the best games of 2012. As for details on The Wolf Among Us, we’ll learn more about pricing, availability, and hopefully game play at Telltale’s promised announcement at the upcoming Electronics Entertainment Expo on June 11th.
