ASCII Shooter from iCartel s.r.o. is a simple shoot-em-up game that harkens back to the days of text based graphics…complete with an 8 bit audio soundtrack. The ’80s are alive once again!
What is it?
In ASCII Shooter, you navigate through a maze shooting any anything that moves. You can score extra lives by collecting hearts, and you also can collect bombs for use while blasting away at the bad guys.
ASCII Shooter is made to work on the iPhone 3GS and newer, iPod Touch 3rd generation and newer, and the iPad. This game runs on iOS 4.3 or later.
How does it work?
The game’s storyline places you as the OS Defender who must wipe out any attacks on the computer system. After reading the story, you find yourself in a maze with lots of bad guys moving around. You simply use the virtual direction pads to move (left) and first (right) in the direction you want. You can hold the fire pad down for rapid auto fire. Shoot as many as you can until you eliminate the bad guys.
The audio soundtrack reminds you of the old console games. The game is aimed for ages 4 and older, so the design and playability is kept rather simple. You don’t need a lot of thought to play this, but sometimes that’s a good thing; if it moves, just shoot it.
Is it contagious?
ASCII Shooter has hundreds of levels to play. Game play is simple, making it a great way to fill the time or relieve some stress. The original 8 bit soundtrack and old school graphics will have have both older and younger players caught up in the fun and action.
