Apple has released a software update for Apple TV, bringing it to version 5.3. HBO GO and WatchESPN are now available directly on the service, as well as Sky News, Crunchyroll and Qello to increase Apple TV’s live news, sports and TV programming options.

With HBO GO, subscribers will have unlimited access to HBO Shows, including HBO original programming, hit movies, sports, documentaries, comedy specials and more. Full seasons of the best of HBO, bonus features and special behind-the-scenes extra will also be available.

WatchESPN, on the other hand, provides live access to ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU, ESPN3 and ESPN Buzzer Beater/Goal Line. Curated on-demand video that features recent and relevant content such as highlights and news clips from ESPN.com are also available through Apple TV. But, of course, you must be receiving ESPN’s networks as part of your video subscription from affiliated ESPN providers.

The other three channels made available through Apple TV provide 24/7 news feeds to users in the U.S., U.K. and Ireland via Sky News, Japanese Anime and Asian Media from Crunchyroll, and HD concerts and music documentaries from Qello.

Software version 5.3 is available now as a free download for the second and third generation Apple TV.
