mzl.qmdztznb.320x480-75This week on the Free Apps Roundup: iPad owners can finally use Google Maps with the latest update to this superb mapping service. Not only that, but the new update brings other new features like indoor maps and more. Apple also recently launched Logic Pro X, and they’ve released an amazing free companion app to go with it. And PAC-MAN is back in a brand new game. Plus there are tons of limited time freebies like always.

The Top Three Free Apps:

  • Google Maps – Google just pushed the latest update to their amazing mapping app. Not only does it now support iPad, live traffic updates and incident reports have been enhanced, you can see reviews from friends and Sagat experts, it has Google Offers deals built in, and it even does indoor maps for certain locations. It’s a must-have app.
  • Logic Remote – Is a remote for Logic logical? I’d say so. This is the companion app for Logic Pro X on the Max. It’s made by Apple, so you know it’s good. It gives you a touch interface for Logic instruments. You can play a keyboard, strum a fret on a guitar fretboard, and tap out beats on pads or a drum set. Plus, there’s an Arpeggiator plug-in that works with any instrument. The app also helps you navigate your Logic Projects and mix your sessions. Logic isn’t free, but this app is, so if you have Logic Pro X, you’d better download this and enjoy it.
  • PAC-MAN DASH! – PAC-MAN is back, but this time it’s personal, err, completely different than what you’re accustomed to. Instead of a top-down maze-pellet-eating game, it’s more of a side scrolling runner with power ups and the like. Also, the pellets are now cookies. There are 70 missions to run through. How long can you keep running?

Free Apps:

  • OWA for iPhone – Here’s another new app for Microsoft Office 365 Business or Exchange Online subscribers. This app allows you to get work done faster with email. Organize, search and browse your Outlook email easily. You can schedule meetings, view shared calendars, delegate and more.
  • OWA for iPad – The same for iPad.
  • eBay Exact – I love 3D printing. But 3D printers are expensive, and most take effort to keep running in tip top shape. This app bypasses all that work and allows you to customize products and have them 3D printed for you.

Free Apps for a Limited Time:

  • 7 Minute Workout – How’s that New Year’s resolution panning out for you? Maybe another app will help you. This one has you doing 12 high intensity workouts using only your bodyweight. Each lasts 30 seconds followed by 10 seconds of rest in between.
  • All-In Fitness – Or maybe you need more choices in your workouts. This app has 100 ready-made workouts designed by fitness experts for different goals. You can even create and share your own custom workouts. Plus it can track your nutrition and workouts so you stay on target.
  • Ocarina 2 – Fans of Smule will be excited to get yet another digital instrument for free. This is the sequel to the original, and it comes with a brand new song mode. It’s easy to play and learn your favorite songs. You control the notes, speed and tempo. New and free songs are released weekly, so there’s always something to play.
  • DocScanner PRO – This is a great utility to have on your iPhone. No longer do you need a scanner to convert your paper documents into digital ones, just take pictures and this app does the rest.
  • Photo Eraser – No, it doesn’t delete all of your photos. What it does is erase unwanted items in your photos. Maybe there’s one extra bystander in your photo, or a stray bear, or maybe you just don’t want your friends in your pictures. This app can take them out.
  • Moment Camera – This is another camera app, but it can do sequential shots, self-timed shots and more. If Camera.app isn’t doing it for you anymore and you need timing options, this is one to try out.
  • Dream Chaser – The realm of the gods has been thrown into disarray and it’s up to one swift knight spirit to restore the peace. Yes, it’s another endless runner, but it has some pretty great graphics and over 26 missions in its story-driven gameplay.
  • Prince of Persia Retro – Relive the classic adventure that started it all, only this time there are touchpad controls and you can share your progress with your friends via Facebook.
  • Aqua Moto Racing – It’s not Wave Race, but hey, it’s a game that lets you race jet skis in 7 Championships and 18 tracks. You can even do some stunts.
  • Pokedex for iOS – Do you need a Pokedex on your iPhone or iPad? Um, hasn’t that always been the dream? Yes, very likely. This is the official Pokedex, and it’s free for a limited time. It supports the Retina display, can make your Pokemon move in 3D, and gives you all the data you’re likely to find on your favorite pocket monsters.
