Soundfreaq is known for funky designs, and their latest product is certainly no exception. The Sound Spot is a Bluetooth streaming speaker that offers freedom from cords as well as a built-in USB port to let you charge your devices from its internal battery while you’re on the go.

You even get a full complement of buttons to let you control your music from the speaker itself, so you never have to fumble for your phone.

The Sound Spot comes in two varieties: a white-and-wood finish that will look good in your post-modern concrete-and-glass home or a basic matte black that looks good anywhere. Initially, those are the only two options; if you like the design but aren’t feeling the colors, sit tight until the end of summer as more colors are on the way.

Sonically, the Sound Spot offers up a mono speaker, though you can use the line out/line in ports on two Sound Spots to daisy chain for additional oomph. Your connection options include that line-in port, as well as standard Bluetooth connectivity, meaning you can play sound from virtually any device. Onboard buttons include play/pause, forward/reverse, and a Bluetooth pairing button, which can be used to control the tunes during the Sound Spot’s 7 hour battery life. Power comes from an internal rechargeable battery, but the Sound Spot also includes a USB port to let you plug in any device for charging, and that USB port works both when the Sound Spot is running on AC and on battery power, so you can charge you other devices anywhere.

Initially available online via Soundfreaq’s online store as well as at your neighborhood Target store, the Sound Spot goes for a suggested price of $70.
