The online community has been abuzz for several months now with rumors about Apple’s next generation iPhone and image leaks of the devices. However, every time a site mentioned the device and its possible release date, it simply noted it would be released “later in the fall.”
But now, AllThingsD is reporting Apple will officially unveil the new iPhone at a media event at September 10th. It is unclear if Apple will be releasing the low-cost iPhone 5C or the next generation iPhone 5S, though it is possible that the company will announce both. This is because Apple is releasing the iPhone 5C as a low-cost iPhone option that is expected to replace the iPhone 4, so it is natural for them to introduce both.
If Apple introduces the low-cost iPhone, it is expected to be priced around $500 (the unsubsidized pricing for the iPhone 4). The low-cost iPhone will reportedly feature an all new plastic design, similar to a hybrid between an iPhone 3GS and iPod touch 5th generation, while the iPhone 5S is expected to carry a very similar design to the current iPhone 5 with a new iSight camera, home button fingerprint sensor and other features.
