Apple is setting up the Mac Pro to be a blockbuster, even though the device hasn’t been released yet. The company is now airing the same Mac Pro teaser from WWDC in theaters, now ending with the tagline “Fall 2013.” Even though most customers expected the device to arrive in the fall, this is the first time that Apple has mentioned a timeframe for releasing the product. The new Mac Pro comes packed with a new Intel Xeon E5 processor, one of the new processors that is now sold with Apple’s latest Mac line-up.
The other Macbook that received a processor upgrade at WWDC was the new Macbook Air, which received Intel’s new Haswell processor. Apple is expected to release a new all-plastic iPhone 5C as well as an iPhone 5S in September, which means they probably won’t be releasing the new Mac Pro around the same time. It is very likely that they will release it several weeks before Christmas to help boost sales for the quarter.
Even so, the Mac Pro’s teaser trailer looks good enough to build enough momentum until its release in the fall. The teaser for the Mac Pro is one of the few Apple ads that really amps up the audience, and I think it is perfect for the theater. The sound and the visual effects of the teaser make it look promising enough to hold up well in theaters and illicit a positive response for the Mac Pro.
