It seems there will, according to AllThingsD, be a gold iPhone option when Apple announces the new line-up in the coming weeks. Though many sources are suggesting the new iPhone 5S would actually be champagne colored instead of gold, all of them agree this will be a color option available to customers.
On Monday, John Paczkowski of AllThingsD reported Apple will release a gold iPhone with an elegant, champagne colored tint. With the new gold option added to the existing white/silver and black/slate options, Apple’s iPhone 5S will be available to customers in three different color choices.
Apple is adding a new color to the iPhone color palette, and yes, it is indeed gold.
Sources in position to know tell AllThingsD that Apple, after years of offering the iPhone in either black and white, will soon offer it in a gold tone as well.
The new color option was described to AllThingsD as an “elegant” gold tone. “Think champagne, not ingot,” a source said. Sources say that the gold iPhone will feature a white face, with a gold-tone back plate and chamfered edging.
I think the champagne color is a very smart move by Apple, because it adds some variety to the iPhone 5S line. After the rumored iPhone 5C comes out, Apple’s high-end line may appear to be limited in terms of color. The champagne color will mix it up a bit and make a color change that hasn’t really been seen since the original iPhone.
