Google has just released an update to its YouTube iOS app, bringing in a nice, new feature: multitasking. For those of you who can’t live without the YouTube app on your iOS device, the update will make you use the app even more as you can now watch a video while searching for the next one. This feature is similar to picture-in-picture.
The current video can be minimized by a swipe gesture. Once done, it will be transformed into a small box on the bottom-right of your device’s screen. This allows you to explore the YouTube iOS app to search for the next video you are going to watch. To close or expand the currently playing video, you simply swipe your finger to the right or left.
Another new feature of the updated YouTube iOS app is the ability to search for playlists and use the “play all” button. Finally, the YouTube Official Blog also mentions a cleaner and simpler look, similar to other Google apps, but I have no way of noticing this since I rarely use the YouTube iOS app at all.
The updated YouTube iOS app is available now from the iTunes App Store.
