With the tech world now buzzing about the iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c, many have overlooked some of the devices’ smaller features in exchange for the big ones, such as the fingerprint sensor in the 5s. Though this is the first time that Apple is making such a big change to the iPhone’s home button, this is also the first time the battery life on the device is so good. As a matter of fact, Apple has successfully packed in a 10% larger battery in the iPhone 5s, which gives users a longer talk time and more LTE usage.
This is very important because as the iPhone picks up new technology like LTE and more carriers begin offering that in their standard plans, battery life has become a concern. Apple addressed this with a bigger battery and somehow managed to retain the same iPhone 5 design without sacrificing size or weight. The 10% bigger iPhone 5s battery provides an extra two hours of talk time and LTE usage, bringing it up to 10 hours total. This is much better than the iPhone 5, which offered only 8 hours of talk time and LTE usage.
According to Apple’s iPhone 5s technical specifications page, the new phone will offer 8 hours of Internet use on 3G, 10 hours on Wi-Fi, 10 hours of video playback, and up to 40 hours of audio playback. This is better than any iPhone has realized in the line’s history. Apple has even managed to bring this great battery life over to the iPhone 5c, which is replacing the iPhone 5 in the lineup. Expect Apple to increase battery life even more in the next generation as the company is expected to introduce an iPhone with an even larger screen, up to 6 inches.
