With the forthcoming release of the iPhone 5c and iPhone 5s, many customers will be joining the Apple family for the first time. You’re sure to love your new device, but if you’re anything like me (and pretty much everybody I know)—you’ll be disappointed by the Apple EarPods included with the iPhone. Thankfully, companies such as AKG are here to help us out with their new in-ear and over-ear headphones.
The Apple EarPods are passable, but have two problems: sound and fit. AKG counters that in two ways, the first of which is their AKG K323 XS in-ear headphones, which provide the uncompromising AKG standards for sound quality, comfort, versatility, and functionality in a compact package.
As they put it:
The secret of the AKG K323 XS’s listening experience is in its innovative ear-tip technology. The tip is shaped to maximize the fit between the headphone and your ear, creating sound isolation that makes for an immersive listening experience. Add to that the extreme comfort that comes with your choice of four sizes (XS, S, M, and L) of ear sleeves, and you’ll discover a snug fit with studio-quality sound that’s comfortable enough to wear all day without fatigue.
The AKG K323 XS comes with a lightweight straight cable with a 3-button control mic option for Apple iOS users; take calls and control the music without removing your headphones.
The AKG K323 XS earphones are available in six colors, and come with a carrying pouch. They have an MSRP of $39.00 to $59.00, and are available at www.akg.com.
If you want something with a little more oomph, the new AKG K845BT and AKG K545 over-ear reference headphones may fit the bill. Offering studio quality sound and modern designs, the AKG K845BT features wireless Bluetooth connectivity while the AKG K545 comes with a choice of detachable inline control microphone cables for Apple and Android users.
The AKG K845BT takes the best features of the iconic AKG 550s and applies them to its lightweight wireless design. It starts with AKG’s largest 50 mm drivers, and AKG’s decades of audio design savvy. Together they are responsible for the 20 Hz to 20 kHz frequency response and full-bodied bass. Bluetooth wireless streaming gets the music from your player to the AKG K845BTs, with an assist from Near Field Communication (NFC) that makes Bluetooth pairing as easy as pressing a button. Users will appreciate the soft, comfy protein leather ear cushions, which are not only easy on the ears, but host a microphone for phone calls. Control buttons allow for taking and ending calls and commanding music playback without having to remove the headphones.
The AKG K545 features the same 20 Hz to 20 kHz frequency response and rich bass, using the same AKG 50 mm drivers as its wireless cousin, in a wired headphone design that’s ideal for private listening. Smartphone users will appreciate the two detachable inline control microphone cables, one for iOS users, and one for Android that let you control the music and take calls without missing a beat. Users will also appreciate the soft touch of the protein-leather ear cushions and the lightweight of the cups and headband.
The AKG K845BT wireless headphones will be available soon in two color combinations for $299, and ship with a carrying case. The AKG K545s will also come with a carrying case, but will be available in four “funky” colors for $249.
