It was revealed earlier today that Apple sold a whopping 9 million iPhones this year, which breaks the opening weekend sales record of the iPhone 5. The combined sales of the iPhone 5C and iPhone 5S is said to be the best iPhone launch ever.
Currently, the majority of Apple retail stores are sold out of iPhone 5S, with the online orders showing a shipment date of October. The whole craze is about the new gold color iPhone 5S, which was sold out minutes after the orders went online. It’s in such high demand that one user bought a gold color iPhone 5S on ebay for a mind boggling $10,100. Yes you read that right, a 16GB gold iPhone 5S was sold for a whopping $10k after 51 bids.
A user offered a bid of $2,500 on the closing day, but then a bidder countered with a shocking $10,000 bid and was outnumbered on the last moment by offering $100 more by a user known as y***9.
In case you don’t know, there is an iPhone 5S with real gold plating by the folks at Gold Genie, but even that one costs way less than this: £1,781 (almost $2,852) for the 16GB version.
It sounds shocking, I know. How dumb can one be to spend over $10,000 for a phone which will be in stock in a month? Apple already asked its suppliers to boost the production of the gold iPhone 5S, which should be in stock next month or early November. Anyway, looks like someone has a lot of spare cash lying around.
