Well, look what we have here. We all had a pretty good idea Apple would hold a press event this month to unveil the much-anticipated iPad 5 and iPad mini 2, and it looks likes we have a rumored launch date now, courtesy of the folks at AllthingsD. One of the more trusted sources for Apple rumors, AllThingsD accurately predicted the iPhone launch event, and we believe they may be correct this time, as well.
According to AllThingsD, citing unnamed sources, Apple is expected to hold a media event on Tuesday, October 22nd, to unveil the updated iPad lineup. In addition, Apple is also expected to introduce its upgraded Mac Pro lineup, as well as its next generation OS X Mavericks operating system.
The next generation iPad 5 is expected to carry the design of iPad mini, and will be thinner than its predecessor. It will be powered by the same A7 64-bit chip and will feature an improved camera. If you remember, it was rumored that iPad mini 2 and iPad 5 will feature the same 8MP camera as the iPhone 5s.
The second-generation iPad mini will also feature a Retina display along with an A7 chip under the hood. There’s no confirmation if either one of these tablets will feature the Touch ID sensor, but rumors suggest they will.
To see what Apple has planned for its users this holiday season, we just have to wait for two weeks.
