The rumor mill is churning out more iPad 5 rumors, with the latest coming as a set of images from Sonny Dickson. These images suggest the fifth generation iPad will be adopting the iPad mini design, which would make it lighter, thinner, and more portable.
Dickson managed to obtain both the rear shell and the screen, which seem to fit together perfectly. Though there are no internals pictured, there is a hole in the bezel where the Touch ID sensor is expected to go. The images also show the iPad 5 in the white/silver and black/space gray color options that will be available when the device is released (there doesn’t seem to be a gold color option which we’ve seen in the iPhone 5s). So far, there aren’t any big surprises, and it looks as if we’re going to see everything we have been expecting for several months now.
With this new design, Apple is finally doing away with the old iPad design that has essentially remained the same for the last three generations. This new design will also synchronize the iPad mini with the full-sized iPad for the first time.
Apple is rumored to be holding an event on October 22nd to release both the iPad 5 and iPad mini.
