We’ve heard several rumors now that Apple is working on an oversized iPad, possibly 12.9-inch, due in 2014 along with the purported iWatch. Well, according to this new rumor, Apple’s manufacturing partner, Foxconn, manufactured five prototype iPads featuring 2K and 4K resolution with a screen size of 12.9-inches.
The rumor emerged from Chinese publication, PadNews, which also mentioned Apple will launch the 12.9-inch iPad with 2K resolution in the first half of 2014, possibly in April, followed by a 4K resolution model a few months later in October during the regular update cycle. The current iPads boast a resolution of 2048 x 1536 pixels resolution, which are, by a few standards, 2K resolution.
This isn’t the first time we’ve heard about the larger iPad; earlier rumors also pointed towards its launch in late 2014 and will be manufactured by Quanta computers.
We haven’t seen any leaked photos or even components of the larger iPad, so hold on and wait until Apple makes it official. If it’s going to happen, we’ll see a bunch of leaks and photos before Apple officially takes the wraps of the purported 12.9-inch 2K and 4K iPads.
