On Tuesday, Apple added a new gifting option to the iBookstore service, allowing customers to send books as gifts for the holidays. The addition of this new feature was first reported by Macworld. This is new for the iBookstore, which is the last Apple service to receive the gifting option; users have been able to gift applications and music albums for quite some time now.
Apple finally realized that book sales could also increase if they allowed customers to send them to friends and family as gifts. Gifting is no different than the gifting option on the App Store and iTunes Music Store; simply click on the dropdown menu by the price of the book and you’ll see the gift option. After clicking this, users can follow the remaining steps to enter their Apple ID, password, and credit card information.
This is a great addition to the iBookstore and is smart on Apple’s part, especially because it makes sending books much easier and saves everyone some time during the busy holiday shopping period. It’s surprising Apple didn’t add this option until now, but better late than never, I suppose.
