Apple today released the expected iOS 7.1 update for iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch. As recently reported, this latest version of iOS will bring in support for CarPlay. Of course, you’ll get to enjoy this feature only if you own a CarPlay enabled vehicle. CarPlay supports phone, music, maps, messages and 3rd-party audio apps.
If you don’t own a CarPlay enabled vehicle, you should still download and install iOS 7.1 as it brings several new features, UI tweaks, performance improvements and bug fixes. Some of the new features include the new camera setting for automatically enabling HDR for iPhone 5s, a dedicated list and tray view button in Calendar, a new design for the power toggle and phone animation, improvement in the animation speed, support for push-to-talk option with Siri for better speech recognition, improved Touch ID fingerprint recognition, and other small improvements.
You know the drill, right? You can either update over-the-air via Software Update in the Settings app or by connecting your iDevices on your PC or Mac and running the update via iTunes.
