Since I first demoed Prime World at E3 a few years ago, the MMO strategy game has grown to become many things. One of these is a tower defense game called Prime World: Defenders, which is currently available for Mac and PC, and will soon be available for iOS. Nival has announced that the game—a hybrid tower defense and collectible card game—will hit iPhone, iPad and iPod touch on March 20th.
In Prime World: Defenders, players fight off hordes of monstrous mutants created from a strange cataclysmic event. Players join a group of exile treasure hunters who have ventured into the capital of an ancient empire, vast with mystery and danger. The game features a story-driven single-player campaign with endless maps and Heroic Mode. Towers, spells and traps take the form of magic cards that players can collect and upgrade as they progress. The game also features randomly generated missions, a feature rarely seen in tower defense games.
The press release doesn’t offer much more detail than that, but it’s worth noting the Mac/PC version doesn’t force micro-transactions or additional purchases on you, so let’s hope the iOS version works the same way. The computer version also gives you:
- A perk system for your hero
- Story-based campaign with 23 missions
- Mission generator offering infinite replayability
- 24 towers, each with up to 25 upgrades
- 13 magic spells that can be upgraded too
- 38 types of enemies
- Bosses, mini-bosses and huge bosses
If the iOS version gets some of that, too, it’ll definitely be worth checking out.
We’ll let you know when the app is live. Until then, visit en.nival.com for more on Prime World and their other great Mac and iOS compatible games.
