The Starbucks iOS app has just been updated with a major new feature which we previewed last week: digital tipping. That’s right; all of you Starbucks coffee addicts like myself can now tip your favorite baristas for up to two hours after your purchase. Once you’ve made a successful tipping transaction, the app will send a push notification. This new feature, however, is available only on Starbucks store in the U.S. Hopefully it will be rolled out to other countries too.

Along with the digital tipping feature, the updated Starbucks iOS app also now lets you pull up the barcode baristas need to scan your mobile payment merely shaking your iPhone. There’s also a new dashboard that will allow you to see your rewards level, available rewards, inbox messages, and your most recent transactions. The app also now lets you view your entire account history, from the purchases you made, stars you’ve earned and rewards you’ve redeemed via a single feed, ala Facebook timeline. Finally, the Starbucks app will also now let you share your reward level milestones to your followers on social networking sites.

The Starbucks iOS app is available now as a free download from the App Store. It’s compatible with iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch running iOS 6 or later.
