For those of you who have not yet abandoned the Twitter iOS app—either through sheer loyalty or because you simply love the app’s simplicity—well, this news is for you. The Twitter iOS app has just been updated, and now stands at v6.3. While there are only two new features, we still think it warrants reporting as they’re quite important in the social world—you can now tag photos and upload multiple photos on a single tweet.
Yes, believe it or not, while both Instagram and Facebook have those features long ago, it is only now that Twitter is introducing it to its iOS app. Before this update, photo tagging on Twitter was done by simply adding names of people you want to tag in a tweet with the photos. The problem with this is that it eats into the 140 character limit of tweets. So now, with the new photo tagging feature, you’ll have your precious 140 characters intact and still be able to tag up to 10 people. If you’re the person being tagged, Twitter will send a notification as well.
Aside from photo tagging, the updated Twitter iOS app also now lets you upload multiple photos—up to four at once, actually. When uploading four photos, Twitter will automatically create a collage. To view a photo, you simply tap on the preview and then slide through the collage to see the rest of the photos in the collage. Both photo-tagging and Tweets with multiple photos are displayed in embedded tweets.
The Twitter iOS app is available now as a free download from the iTunes App Store.
