Ari PartinenThe Twitter world may still be abuzz with the Apple-Beats deal, but another Apple-related news item was recently shared over the mini blogging site. Ari Partinen, lead Lumia camera engineer, announced on Twitter that today, May 9th, is his last day with Lumia.

No, his account wasn’t hacked. He’s really leaving Lumia; the Senior camera engineer at Nokia will leave his home for Apple. This is a big leap for him, but like comes as bad news for Nokia. Their PureView cameras are getting solid reviews lately. Partinen’s move to Apple will have us paying closer attention to the iPhone camera, as his expertise is in image quality tuning. Imagine PureView technology coming to Apple’s camera…now that would be a kick-ass phone cam!

Of course, Partinen cannot bring Nokia’s PureView to Apple, but his knowledge and expertise would be very helpful. It might take time before research is over, but it’s certainly something to look forward to.
