Voice-over-LTE (or VoLTE) was recently announced by AT&T in the US. The new feature was announced together with the AT&T HD Voice, and the combination is expected to improve phone calls. The first markets to receive the features are Wisconsin, Minnesota, Indiana, and Illinois, starting May 23rd.
The Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini already supports the HD Voice and VoLTE, and the Apple iPhone 5 and iPhone 5s should be eligible. We’re guessing the upcoming iPhone 6 will support it as well if Apple will allow it through some adjustments in iOS 7 or introduce it with the new iOS 8.
AT&T trails behind T-Mobile and Verizon Wireless with VoLTE support, but it doesn’t matter who launched the service first; we’ll just see and compare which service is more reliable and consistent.
